“The interiors, staff, music and drinks menu are 5 star. Open until 2am (I think!) you can find a mixed crowd with unusual ales and craft beers, cocktails to die for or a great selection of Gins. Grab a quieter time of day to get a table or take a trip down Steep Hill (it's at the bottom) during the more vibrant times at night. Great DJ playing music (no dance floor). It's a place to hang out at night but don't be intimidated if you are visiting it during the afternoon or early evening. A friendly relaxed bar. ”

“The Collection brings together an award winning archaeology museum and the region’s premier art gallery, the Usher Gallery, in the heart of historic Lincoln. There is a buzzing cafe, stop off for small children in a gated play area, lively programme of events and charming gift shop. It's also FREE to get in most days unless a ticketed event is on, although donations are welcome. The Usher Gallery is one of the region's premier art galleries and is located next to The Collection in the heart of historic Lincoln. The Usher Gallery, along with The Collection, displays a fine collection of fine and decorative arts and plays host to a huge variety of contemporary art exhibitions. ”

Café
“Wonderful little coffee shop where they roast their own coffee. Their food revolves around simpler foods i.e. sandwiches etc, but they're superb. Only trouble is finding a spot to sit as space is limited. It's improved during the summer when there's additional space in the garden.”

“ "A Wonderful Grade II Listed Building sitting at the entrance to the Strait with a rich history in the Historic city of Lincoln. The Cardinals Hat history dates back to the late 1500's where the building would have stood at the heart of the old walled city. The front part of the building constitutes a remarkably fine specimen of late medieval timber-framed town house and was reputedly named after Cardinal Wolsley, Bishop of Lincoln in 1514 where it served as an inn or public house." Lovely place to call in for a drink. ”

“"A welcoming Italian cafe serving delicious coffee and fresh, homemade, and locally sourced organic food throughout the day. Located in The Terrace, Cafe Portico provides an atmospheric cafe to enjoy a hot drink, a snack or light lunch with friends or work colleagues. There are evening music events once a month with a special food menu available. " It is generally necessary to book for the special music events - check of their blog on line. Also does great Pizza every Friday night from their wood fired pizza oven on the back of a motorbike - David and I love this place. ”
