Best things to do in Lisboa

Castillo
“Castelo. The view from under the umbrella pines on the Castle’s esplanade takes in Alfama, the Baixa, Bairro Alto on the hill opposite, and the river. The light here is particularly warm in the late afternoon, encouraging you to linger.”

Monumento / Lugar emblemático
“Torre de Belém. The defensive tower at Belém is a jewel of the Manueline architectural style, combining Moorish, Renaissance and Gothic elements in a dazzling whole. At the time of its construction, the tower stood on an island in the river Tejo, about 200 m (650 ft) from the northern riverbank, and so commanded the approach to Lisbon more fully than it does today. The land between the tower and the Jerónimos monastery has since been reclaimed from the river. Even if you do not plan to visit the inside (I never did it) it’s still worth the trip just for the walk near the river and the view from outside. While you are in the zone you can visit also the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the Centro Cultural de Belém and the museum Berardo. Do not miss to taste the Pasteis de Belém in Rua Belém 84-92 (avoid rush hours)”

Museo de arte
“The National Museum of Ancient Art is one of Lisbon's great cultural attractions, and a "must see" on any tourist itinerary. This is Portugal's national gallery and houses the largest collection of Portuguese 15th- and 16th-century paintings in the country. An equally impressive display of European, Oriental, and African art adds to the allure. The museum is set west of the city center within a 17th-century palace, itself built over the remains of the Saint Albert Carmelite monastery, which was virtually destroyed in the 1755 earthquake. Fortunately, the chapel survived and is integrated into the building.”

Cultural Center
“Beautiful architecture's building. Open 7 days per week, you can always find art exhibitions and from time to time many concerts and play. The tickets are not very pricey. If you arrive half and hour before the show, sometimes you can get a 50% off sale:) There is a terrace facing the river, and a great restaurant at the 4th floor. In short, it's a beautiful place and amazing to spend a afternoon or an evening there. ”

“At one point or another, every bar-hopper in Lisbon has visited Pensão Amor, at least to see the bold decor, if not for the drinks and socializing. Once a brothel, it comprises different rooms filled with bright decor, cushy seating, unique art, and a dancer’s pole. There is even a ‘library’ filled with erotic books. The back entrance opens to Pink Street, but entering from the front entrance at Rua Alecrim is much more impressive – the front room is decorated from floor to ceiling in bright colors and shocking artwork (the ceiling is even a work of art).”
