“Best time to go is right when they open for an early lunch. Delicious grass-fed beef burgers are the best in town and a downing a pint of local brew is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend afternoon.”

“A favorite among locals for coffee and delicious vegan food, “The Bean” is also one of the city's most active music venues and has been featured in the New York Times. The shop also hosts weekly film screenings under the “Psychotronic Film Festival” group! The kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and beer and wine are also on offer.”

“Frequented by SCAD students and alumni, Foxy Loxy is a quirky coffeehouse that doubles as a gallery and music venue. Their back courtyard hosts acoustic mic nights and marshmallow roasts, and their kitchen serves up a variety of Tex-Mex inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They also serve beer & wine. Try the “Eye Opener!”, a milk stout topped off with a shot of espresso! They also have a sister location on Broughton Street called The Coffee Fox.”

Cementerio
“Though not Savannah’s oldest cemetery, Bonaventure is certainly its most famous and hauntingly beautiful. Quintessentially Southern Gothic, it has captured the imaginations of writers, poets, naturalists, photographers and filmmakers for more than 150 years. Part natural cathedral, part sculptural garden, Bonaventure transcends time.”

“What can I say? Leopold’s is an institution in Savannah. At their busiest times, you’ll find yourself waiting in a line all the way down the block, but it is so worth it! Dozens of homemade flavors that change weekly, they’ll let you sample a few before you decide - decent sandwiches, too. ”

“A tourist favorite and in the same building as the old Starland Dairy, Back in the Day serves breakfast and lunch and offers a selection of made-in-house breads and baked goods! The bourbon bread pudding is out of this world, as are the housemade biscuit sandwiches.”

“The Collins Quarter started out as an Australian style coffeehouse (best Flat White in town!) and has since expanded its service to include full lunch and dinner, as well as a fantastic brunch on the weekends (try the Smashed Avocado!) It’s an absolutely beautiful restaurant with a stellar ambiance, whether you go for a full meal or for drinks and appetizers around the communal table. ”

“Another Savannah institution with true Southern comfort foods. A few things to note: 1) It's cash only; 2) There is always be a line, so be prepared to wait (you'll likely see the line wrapped around the block every day); 3) Everyone will tell you that the wait is worth it. You're basically eating family style in this dining room, so you might even leave with a new friend or two at your communal table!”

“American Legion Post 135 is truly a local bar and has one of the most diverse groups of bar-goers you'll ever likely encounter. With free pool, darts, and the cheapest drinks in town (from $2 each!) it attracts all sorts of people. They are cash only, but they have an ATM onsite. They also have amazing food via Betty Bombers!”
