Sightseeing

The Angel Oak is both a stunning and coveted sight to see during a visit to Charleston. A beautiful place to sight see with the family and kiddos. Make an afternoon of it and pack for a picnic underneath the giant limbs of the oldest oak tree in South Carolina.

County Park

Home of the Splash Island Waterpark and Charleston's Annual Festival of Lights, you could spend a whole day with the family at James Island County Park. There are lots of trails to wander and explore whilst enjoying the views and sights of nature. Spend the afternoon bike cruising on a wooded trail as a warm-up then head over to test your strength and strategy on the outdoor rockclimbing wall, amongst other activities! There is also a huge dog park with lake access located here that any fur baby would enjoy immensely! Only a 5min drive from my home. $5 per car for entry fee.

Shopping

A popular vendors' market amongst tourists and locals alike, it is tough to simply "window shop" as you stroll through this market observing in awe the plethora of various artwork and homemade gifts at every booth, every vender with their own unique artistic abilities, their passions toward their crafts so evident when looking upon their art for sale at their booths. Not only is this market the most historic in Charleston, it is also the perfect stop to purchase some one-of-a-kind souvenirs and gifts for loved ones or simply yourself, to remember your trip to The Holy City fondly.

Consejos para la ciudad

Costumbres y cultura

Utilize Uber and/or Lyft as much as possible

Even if you do not partake in alcohol libations, Charleston is full of narrow, cobblestone, one-way streets that can often get you lost and confused pretty easily, and it takes nothing for law enforcement to pull you over and request a breathalyzer as soon as they catch you taking a wrong turn. Uber and other ride sharing services is most ideal for traveling stress-free to and from downtown.
