Along with the Hanalei pier, many of the buildings are also historic.Hanalei beach is about 2 miles long and is great for everyone from highly experienced surfers two first time beach goers. If you are a first time beach goers choose the spots where the lifeguards are especially during the winter months when the surf can be big.

One way bridges can cause unnecessary waits while driving
There are five one-way bridges on the north shore. Anyone who has lived here for very long knows that at the bridges it is best for traffic flow you drive as if you were part of a train following the car behind you. Traffic flows much better that way. Letting every other car go one at a time takes way longer
