The Diocletian palace is Split's main tourist attraction: a 1700 year old, well-preserved structure from antiquity, which served as a residence to Roman emperor Diocletian and today forms the old town of Split.
Walk through the basements, visit the Peristyle (the ancient square in the center of the palace) and get lost in the labyrinthic side alleys, filled with restaurants and bars.
The palace also doubled as the city of Meereen in Game of Thrones.

Krka National Park is named after the river Krka and offers a beautiful hiking trail and waterfalls. Around 50 miles away from Split.
Please note that this location can get very crowded during the summer season.

Marjan is Split's green lung and recreation space. It's a 178 meters tall hill on Split's peninsula surrounded by beaches and full of hiking trails.
Rent a bike and cycle around Marjan to find a fitting beach or walk up the steps to the top. In the latter case, start at Marjan Hill Stairs. You'll get to see the best view of Split and the surroundings.

Beaches around Marjan
If you're down for nature, rent a bicycle and explore the area around Marjan hill to find a fitting beach.
On the southern side of Marjan check Kaštelet (mostly locals) and Kasjuni (mostly tourists). On the northern side you can find smaller, but rockier beaches with a café and restaurant

Other beaches in Split (Bačvice, Firule, Žnjan)
Bačvice is the most famous beach of Split due to locals playing the well-known "Picigin" ball game in the shallow water.
The beach isn't pretty to look at, but offers nearby restaurants, bars, and a street workout.
From there, you can follow the coast eastwards, and you'll find a couple of different beaches: from Firule beach to the far-out and long-stretching Znjan beach, which is more touristic.
