Legend has it that Cambridge is sister to Glastonbury and that the mound is in fact a tor of similar power to the one at Glasto with its creation said to be far earlier than history states. Its a humble and very well concealed little mound but worth the little trek to the top for views over the city and beyond. Coincidentally it is yards from the beginning of an ancient route that would lead pilgrims north and up to Holme-next-the-sea where the famous "Sea Henge" was discovered.

See if you can pop into their back garden. Just keep walking through heading towards the back right. An oasis of calm in the middle of the City. Beautiful pond with Koi carp. Ducklings in Spring. Amazing tree to see in fellows garden (but you have to look over the fence unless you are a fellow - a bit like this in Cambridge!)

They have blankets too if its chilly (or freezing). There are several station points and there are others apart form Scudamores Magdaleine St (pronounced Maudaline) is just the closest.

If you keep walking you can head towards Silver Street or if you stay on Queens Road and keep going you get to the Mill Pond and then some lovely green rough areas you can explore... Footpaths, cows and Cow parsley in May. You can follow the river most of the way or meander from it...

If you keep walking you can head towards Silver Street or if you stay on Queens Road and keep going you get to the Mill Pond and then some lovely green rough areas you can explore... Footpaths, cows and Cow parsley in May. You can follow the river most of the way or meander from it...

Tricky to get to (you need a car and £4.50 to park) but very interesting things have happened near here including two stunning crop-circles (some 16 years ago now but astoundingly beautiful) Along form this is Gog Magog farmshop and cafe. Lovely food and a great stop off after Wandlebury.

Lovely little woodland walk. Great Blue-bells! You do walk parallel to the busy Huntingdon road for most of this walk but you can listen to the leaves blowing rather then the traffic. See if you can spot their black squirrels! Go to the entrance on Girton Road and start by turning left. Part of this trail is actually along Huntingdon Road for 300 yds or so but then you turn right again and follow the tarmac track back in and around the rest of the grounds. Please note they close the gates when its windy and you are not allowed in.

Keep in mind we are a good 10/15 minute cycle ride to the centre of town and its uphill on the way back up to Girton!

Legend has it that it was built on a pentacle.... Im not quite sure what that means but it sounds pretty exciting to me and I have a story to tell about this... They have a restaurant upstairs for pre-theatre food too. I haven't eaten here for many years now but was lovely when I did.

Having said that, we watched Shaun the Sheep here (highly recommended - seriously!). Its small and quaint and popular. I remember queing for 300 metres to watch "Grease" here back in 1979...
