City oases in summer! Summer in Vienna is best enjoyed in the open air. Numerous bars and restaurants – above all on the Danube Canal – offer the perfect place to chill out, and shorten the warm summer nights. Just a few paces from Vienna's old city, trendy restaurants and bars along the Danube Canal provide that Riviera feeling with sandy beaches, music, cool cocktails and delicious food. Strandbar Herrmann at the Urania beckons with deckchairs, hammocks, lots of sand, and brunch at the weekend. On the Badeschiff (pool boat) a few steps further along, an outdoor pool and refreshing drinks on the top deck are an attraction on hot summer days. On the bank opposite, this year's pop-up restaurant "It's All About The Meat Baby" serves up excellent burgers and cocktails. Situated right alongside is the well-stocked wine bar "Pub Klemo am Wasser". And at Gspritzter Ferdl, there's "Brettljause", summertime wine tavern salads, wine tavern cocktails and, of course, white-wine spritzer. The Motto am Fluss at the mooring point of the Twin City Liner is another hot-spot, with every seat on the terrace hotly sought-after in summer. The outdoor area of the nearby Flex Café is also a crowd-puller in good weather.

The Sass plays club music in a stylish ambience. At the weekend, one of the best sound systems in the city regularly massages the ears and legs of the party guests. The Sass is situated as centrally as only few other clubs. With the address, Karlsplatz 1, the club is situated at three subway lines and at Vienna's absolute traffic hub. The cocktails are mixed using the best ingredients, the deep brown parquet floor gives dancing shoes the necessary support. The disco in Vienna city center is actually set in the midst of a wonderful garden. The Volksgarten Club Disco has a long history and has survived as a hotspot of Viennese party culture for decades, despite the fast-moving club culture. Located directly on Praterstern, the Fluc has been the main driving force behind the renaissance of nightlife in Vienna’s second district. Fluc is an established fixture on Vienna's night life and music scene, with a legendary program presenting national and international DJs seven days a week. Before reaching its present form, though, Fluc saw quite a few changes. After abandoning a former railway canteen as their location, they transformed a nearby pedestrianised passage into the Fluc_Wanne and built the new Fluc directly above it with the help of a team of young architects.

A former sauna in the Prater is one of the hippest clubs in Vienna. Techno and Electro are the mainstays of the stylish and original location. The Pratersauna still exudes the charm of the 1960s. Its virtues are especially evident in summer. No other club in the city has such as beautiful pool including sandy landscape in the garden. During the summer season, the Sauna Strand Club is open daily until 11 pm and is a popular place to go swimming. Otherwise, the swimming pool is illuminated at night and a great setting for the parties. Inside the Pratersauna, several dance floors are in use at the same time, including the so-called Glashaus and the Toiletfloor. The music ranges from Minimal Techno through to electronic live acts. In summer, the parties spill out into the garden and onto the terrace.

The Danube Island – a Recreational Paradise Bathing, boating, cycling, skating, beach volleyball – or treating yourself to a picnic as a rest from sightseeing: A visit to the Danube Island promises fun, action and relaxation for the entire family. The 21 kilometer long Danube island is not only the favorite recreational region of the Viennese, it is also an unforgettable experience for visitors to Vienna. The Danube Island can be reached from the city center in just a few minutes via the subway lines U1 and U6. An expansive network of trails invites the athletically inclined to hike, jog, cycle and skate. Bathing areas with flat beaches as well as natural bathing sites, a water slide, a surfing school, a water ski lift and a boat rental service offer plenty of opportunities for fun on and in the water. Here are a few Danube Island tips for the entire family... Family Beach For families with (small) children, the 250 meter long family beach offers safe and child-friendly bathing fun. The freely accessible beach of fine gravel is protected by a number of small islands just off shore, the maximum water depth is one meter and the sunbathing areas on the shore have a soft incline toward the water. A restaurant, an ice cream stand, a playground and toilet facilities can all be found nearby. Water Playground on the Danube Island On the 5,000 square meter water playground (free admission), children can splash about, jump in puddles and experiment with water to their heart's content. A stream begins from a spring on a hill and falls into a pond over a waterfall. Small captains can cross the pond on a rope ferry or on a 15-meter suspended bridge. Water toys invite children to experiment, and transport along the Danube can be demonstrated with a real ship lock. In the meander zone, new river banks and sand castles can be built from mud. Showers are available for the "return to civilization". A separate, fenced-in play area for safe splashing is available for children under three. Danube Island Climbing Park At the Danube Island climbing park, fearless visitors can climb to stations at up to 10 meters under the watchful care of trained climbing guides. On the upper platforms, they will be rewarded by a wonderful view of the surroundings. High safety standards are always followed. Every climber is equipped with a helmet and harness and secured with a double-run safety rope. Island info center on the Danube Island The employees of the island info center next to the water playground are happy to inform you of what awaits you on the Danube Island and how you can find it. A mobile info team with electric bicycles also travels the Danube Island to assist visitors with tips and answers to questions.

An elevator in the North Tower of the "Steffl" will take you and your children to see Austria's largest bell, known as the "Pummerin" or boomer. Karlskirche (St. Charles's Church) is a baroque church located on the south side of Karlsplatz in Vienna, Austria. Widely considered the most outstanding baroque church in Vienna, as well as one of the city's greatest buildings, Karlskirche is dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo, one of the great reformers of the sixteenth century. Located on the edge of the Innere Stadt, approximately 200 meters outside the Ringstraße, Karlskirche contains a dome in the form of an elongated ellipsoid. Since Karlsplatz was restored as an ensemble in the late 1980s, Karlskirche has garnered fame due to its dome and its two flanking columns of bas-reliefs, as well as its role as an architectural counterweight to the buildings of the Musikverein and of the Vienna University of Technology. The church is cared for by a religious order, the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, and has long been the parish church as well as the seat of the Catholic student ministry of the Vienna University of Technology. Next to the Church was the Spitaler Gottesacker. Antonio Vivaldi was buried there.
