A little expensive, and catering to tourists, but this place really is a MUST SEE for anyone that would like to see live Brazilian music of various styles in a beautiful setting. The club is in a historic building, several stories tall, with an incredible assortment of antiques for decoration.

Another historic building, like the Rio Scenarium, but much less touristy. Check their schedule, but they usually have great samba, chorinho and other styles of music native to Rio in a very traditional setting. The neighborhood isn't great for walking, so take a taxi or Uber.

Arguably the best churrascaria in Rio. Their all-you-can-eat seafood options are also mind-blowing.

Probably the best bang for your buck in terms of great Middle-Eastern food at a reasonable price, right around the corner from the apartment. Their lunchtime specials can go for about $8, and are very well-served.

On the corner near the supermarket. In front, it looks like a simple bakery. Inside, in back, they serve food to order and by the kilo. Their breakfasts look just like the continental breakfasts you get at a nice hotel - highly recommended!

Most people prefer to park on the street, but if you'd like to pay for guaranteed parking, this lot two blocks away has spaces, and can charge by the hour or by the day. Call ahead to check the latest rates.

Everyone knows about the Cristo on Corcovado and the Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf). These are some additional favorites you might not have heard of.

A military museum may not be top on the list for most travelers, but this one is very affordable, and offers some of the best sight-seeing in Copacabana! It is located on the far end, near Arpoador. Once inside, you can go out to the point where there is an old canon, and get a view of the entire bay. There is also the Confeitaria Colombo, where you can sit at a table up above the sea wall and have food and drinks and watch the whole Copacabana beach at sunset.

Some of the best views in Rio, which is a place world-famous for its views. Go there to watch parachuters and hang gliders jump off the big ramp there, then find the trail that takes you out to a view of the Pedra da Gavea and Barra da Tijuca. It's good for a quick 1 or 2-hour visit if you're in a hurry, or you can spend more time if you wish. Take a taxi (not an Uber!) and make a deal for them to wait for you to take you back. The celular coverage there isn't great, so Uber may not be an option to get back down. Unless, of course, you plan to go down in a hang-glider - that's also an option!

To get a view of the Lagoa, one of the favorites is the Parque dos Patins, on the Leblon side of the lagoon. This place is ideal for kids, since there are roller skates, bicycles, and other fun things to rent and do there. They have family-sides pedal bikes and paddle boats as well. For food, there are kiosks out near the water that server arab food, picanha on a hot plate, and others. Sometimes at night, they have beer festivals, especially around the weekend.

This is a lesser-known park near the Copacabana side of the Lagoa. They have an unusual selection of sculptures with an Afro-Brazilian religious focus, and some adventure activities (ziplines and treetop obstacle courses). But this mostly-vertical park also offers a quick 30-minute hike up to the top of the local mountain to get a different view of the Lagoa and the Cristo from up high.
