Enjoy peace and quite in a tranquil environment. See pelicans nesting high up in the trees. See a 106 year old Baobab tree.

A beautiful place to visit all year round, but especially during December when the Festival of Lights make it even more spectacular. Look out for special events such as the Durban Philharmonic Orchestra that performs in the gardens from time to time.

The coffee shop is an absolute must for crumpets and ice cream, which I've been having since I was a child! Walk it off by going around the gardens. Take a blanket and a book, lie on the grass or under a tree and relax. Feed the ducks in the pond (they sell good fit for ducks, bread isn't healthy for them) and watch the birds and people.

Not to be missed...one of South Africa's oldest. The orchid house is beautiful. Easily spend half the day here
