The elegant rooms are filled with European sculpture, decorative arts, and paintings by old masters. There are only a few of these grand mansions left in the city, so it’s a rare taste of old New York. The first Friday of the month is free. No kids under 10 are allowed into the museum, so if you go on a weekday, you don’t need to worry about field trips overtaking the galleries.
