Piestewa Peak has some great hikes. The Summit Trail to the top is strenuous, crowded and worth it. Bring water, good shoes and your risk tolerance. If you're looking for a less crowded & vertical option, we like the Circumference Trail.

Piestawa (also called Squaw back in the day) is a Phoenix maintained park that has great views of the city and multiple trails ranging from a mile to 8+ miles. The hike to the peak is difficult but amazing. There are flatter roundtrip hikes at the bottom for families. Careful of hiking in the summer, as it's quite hot and the wildlife is out. If you come up and there's no parking, often a spot will clear in a few minutes if you are willing to wait.
