Situated in the heart of the city, Seattle Center is a major cultural hub. It’s here that you’ll find most of Seattle’s top attractions, including the Space Needle, Museum of Popular Culture and Chihuly Garden and Glass, as well as many choice of theatres. This was the site of the 1962 World’s Fair and, although several of the attractions do have an entrance fee, you can explore the beautiful grounds for free.

Seattle Center is an arts, educational, tourism and entertainment center in Seattle, Washington, United States. Spanning an area of 74 acres (30 ha), it was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair. Its landmark feature is the 605 ft (184 m) tall Space Needle, which at the time of its completion was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Seattle Center is located just north of Belltown in the Uptown neighborhood.

Seattle Center is a visitor and local hub, here you'll find the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center w/IMAX theater and Laserdome, The Children's Museum, International Fountain (my guidebook cover photo), MoPOP museum, Chilhuly Garden & Glass museum, the amazing Arts Adventure Playground, Seattle Children's Theater and seasonally lots of festivals like Bumbershoot, Folklife, Taste of Seattle and more. A monorail connects Seattle Center to Westlake Center downtown which is a short walk from Pike's Place Market and the Waterfront area.
