Beautiful mountain lake just minutes away. You can rent boats, kayaks or paddle boards for a day of fun or just pack a picnic lunch and enjoy playing in the water.

Watauga Lake's setting is so wild and breathtaking that it's hard to believe it was artificially created. The Appalachian Trail wraps the entire northern shore and hiking it is a perfect way to experience the area while taking frequent dips in the lake to cool off. Alternatively, plenty of marinas offer boat or other watercraft rentals if that's more your speed.

An easy, pretty, hour-drive to see mountains cascade right into the water – beautiful anywhere you look! A favorite spot to picnic or splash in the water is Watauga Point Recreational Area.
