Close to Plaza las Flores in downtown. This market has evolved with time, but it is still special. Pop in to buy your own fish from the fishmongers and have it cooked in one of the stands. Try their sushi made out of local fish (except for the salmon, of course). Buy some queso “Payoyo” (famous cheese from the Cadiz mountains) and Spanish ham from one of the stands. Get your drinks and you made yourself your own tapas lunch for a fraction of what it may cost!

A bustling central market with amazing displays of the freshest seafood, fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, sherry and more. By late morning/early afternoon the periphery transforms into eateries and tapas bars where you can sample the fare and get some of the best montaditos (small sandwiches) and fried fish around. Gadisushi here has the most amazing and fresh sushi you will find anywhere. Another must see place with morning probably the best time to visit.

Something different: At lunch time people like to eat at the "mercado central". It´s the central market of cadiz where people buy their fruit and vegetables. But now there are also places to eat lunch. It´s very easy going, great andalusian atmosphere. We like the place called "la Sarten". They make a lot of very different kinds of tortillas. You have to try it. But there are also different places. Maybe you are not that hungry and just get a glas of wine and cheese. Do you like olives? Everytime we go to Cadiz we buy our aceitunas at "Matias" at the mercado central. He let´s you try every kind he has before buying. We really like them! If you are at the market you really have to look for that place!!!!

The Central Market is just a 10/15 minute walk to the attic and sells the best fish and fresh produce in town. Buy red tuna and cook it at home ( cooked nearly raw) This market is lively, has a gourmet area and it's a restored historical building. A must see!
