It is a locality within the Fraser Coast Region. The island is considered to be the largest sand island in the world at 1840 km². You can catch a barge to Fraser Island from Inskip Point (Near Rainbow Beach) or from River Heads (Hervey Bay). We recommend you have a 4WD.
