Happiness around the corner! The pizzas are delicious, the lasagna is great and the limoncello is served abundantly. A busy and lively, but never overwhelming place. The service is always great.

Parks & Nature

The place to be, to see Dutchies chill out in the park. Vondelpark is the largest city park in Amsterdam, and certainly the most famous park in the Netherlands, which welcomes about 10 million visitors every year. Centrally placed south of Leidseplein and near Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. The Vondelpark is loved by Amsterdammers as well as by tourists, and is full of people - enjoying a sunny day, dog-walking, jogging, roller-skating, listening to music, people-watching, or just relaxing on the grass. Free concerts are given at the open-air theatre or in the summer at the park's bandstand. Other attractions are the statue of the poet Vondel, the cast iron music dome, het Blauwe Theehuis, and the historical Pavilion with its restaurant Vertigo, opening in summer a popular terrace.

Entertainment & Activities

Super nice place to go to the movies. Located in an old laboratory building (hence the name lab111). They often have screenings of older films as a special. Other activities take place in the building, which makes it a bit messy, but that also has its charm. The bar is also a nice space to have a bite to eat (good quality and eye-catching dishes) or to drink a delicious specialty beer! Even if you do not even go to the movies this is a must.

Arts & Culture

The Anne Frank Huis draws almost one million visitors annually (prepurchase tickets online to minimise the queues). With its reconstruction of Anne’s melancholy bedroom and her actual diary – sitting alone in its glass case, filled with sunnily optimistic writing tempered by quiet despair – it’s a powerful experience. The focus of the museum is the achterhuis (rear house), also known as the Secret Annexe, a dark and airless space where the Franks and others observed complete silence during the daytime, outgrew their clothes, pasted photos of Hollywood stars on the walls and read Dickens, before being mysteriously betrayed and sent to their deaths.

Drinks & Nightlife

One of Amsterdam’s most famous central squares, the busy Leidseplein, or Leiden Square, claims a prime location to the South of the city’s canal ring and opposite the popular Vondelpark. Once serving as a 17th-century transport stand for horse-drawn carriages, the square remains a vibrant center point, alive with street entertainers and freestyle jazz performers. Here, costumed acrobats and break-dancers amuse punters at the square’s many cafés, shops and restaurants. As the sun sets, the city’s notorious brown cafés, Irish pubs and music venues fill up, and the square is at its liveliest, flickering with neon and echoing with music spilling from the clubs. Melkweg and Paradiso ....
