Hip store with a wide variety of items. Set in a very cute little shopping area, a short walk from town center. The one place to find local goods. Some handmade cosmetics, handmade throws, pottery, baskets, some curated vintage clothes.

Hiking
Most of the hikes require you to carry a wilderness permit that you can acquire for free at the ranger station (forms outside in case it’s closed). In order to park at most hiking trailhead you will need a $5 parking permit. The closest hike from the house is deer springs trail to suicide rock. Moderate to hard, it’s steady up hill. Views. Can be crowded. Ernie Maxwell is the easiest and somewhat flat one, no permits required. Devil’s slide is a great one, uphill and switchbacks, views of Tahquitz peak, very picturesque, can be crowded. download the app “all trails” for more details/hikes.

What to pack: winter
House slippers, the house is shoes off and the floors can get cold, so cozy slippers are good to have. Chains are mandatory for driving around in the winter.

Driving up and down the hill
People will tail gate to signify that they want to pass. Use the turnouts to let them pass. It gets them off your tail :)

20 minutes drive past mountain center. Possibility of renting pontoons and kayaks. Great fishing I’ve been told. Fishing permit required and available at the marina.

As non mountain bikers we can’t really help you. We just know there are trails. South ridge trail area it seems. Also investigate near Idyllwild Arts and in Gardner Valley
