This is a beautiful preserved area with many lakes. There is pretty much something for everyone! Almost no walking required at Sardine Lower, a 1/4 path to a virtually undiscovered upper lake Sardine, boat/paddle board accessible area at Salmon with a gorgeous paddle to a waterfall and small island, great fishing, etc.!

This is a fun idea if you have time to explore the historic Sierra City area (perhaps on the way or way back from the Lake's Basin). It's run by the historical society and is one of the only stamp mines. The tour is fun and informative. We enjoyed it with our children and their grandparents.

This is a local spot for great Mexican food and sports watching! It's the only restaurant open at night for dinner in town. Run by a wonderful family.
