Storholmen is a small island in the Stockholm Archipelago close to the city center. There are no cars on the island, the only thing you will find on the roads here are occasional hens that are strutting around looking for seeds… perfect for getting you right into that laid back island mood! There is a ferry connected to the main SL Stockholm city transit system that goes all year around and that takes you back and forth. There is a big castle on the island that once belonged to licor magnat Cederström who owned the entire island. Later on the land was divided into smaller areas and sold to locals who used Storholmen as a summer retreat to get away from the city and breathe some fresh sea air. Today there are several all year round households on the island and there is a kindergarten on the island next to us - Tranholmen (which is also the island where Andreas grew up).

Consejos para la ciudad

Getting here by ferry

The SL ferry takes you from Nybrokajen in the city center to the Storholmen island all year around, this is the scenic route (2h). It is faster to take the subway to Ropsten and to take the ferry from there (8 min subway + 40 min Ferry). The fastest way is to come by car and park at the guest parking at Mor Anna’s Brygga and take the ferry the last bit, (20 min car + 5min ferry) At Storholmen there are 3 ferry stops: Södra, Norra and Östra. You can jump off at any of the stops bit Storholmen Södra is the one absolute closest to the house.

Getting here with your own private boat

If you have your own boat you can park at our dock right by the house. The bay is very protected but if you have a big boat and it is heavy wind coming in from the north west direction you might want to put your boat in the other side of the island during the night.
