Presque Isle Park is accessible by all. There is a beach across from the pavilion with bathrooms. There is lake access for kayaks and paddle boards. You can drive around the island during designated times or there are times reserved for walkers. This is also where the Black Rocks are located for adventurers! You can also see freighters being loaded or unloaded if you are lucky.

Wetmore is my favorite beach. There are many "secret" beaches to find and never too many people. It is a small walk from the parking area so it is not the best place to put in a boat but a great place to access the North Country Trail and lay in the sun.

The AuTrain River is my favorite river paddle. It is busy on the weekends but if you did not bring your own boat Northwoods is the easiest place to rent. Give them a call and let them drop you off and pick you up.

There are several beaches in AuTrain that allow easy public access. Pull into any Scenic Pull Out and find your favorite. This is the largest beach in AuTrain.

Any hike on the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is enjoyable. They typically have a Ranger on site at Miner's Castle so start there and plan the rest of your trip.

A more advanced hike with amazing views. You need to be able to navigate big rocks to get to the top. Not good for young children. There is always a nice breeze at the top with amazing views.

A well traveled trail to numerous falls. Some hikers jump off the rocks into the river. A bit of a drive from the cabin but if you are going toward the Keeweenaw Peninsula it is a great way to break up the drive. It is approximately 1 hr and 30 minute drive from the cabin. Located within the Escanaba River State Forest, a half mile hike will get you to the falls. There are stairs to take you down to the river and provides a wonderful view of the falls.

For libations try The Ore Dock, The Black Rocks Brewery, Stuckos or Digs. Art galleries I love are Marquette Artists Collective and Zero Degrees on Third. For shopping make sure you go to Getz's, Downwind and Blackbird.

Drive the speed limit in Chocolay Twp.
Coming and going from the cabin you will be in Chocolay Twp. The police patrol and commonly ticket drivers for going even 5 mph over the speed limit. Set your cruise and avoid paying any fines for speeding. The speed limit decreases from 65 mph to 55 mph near the casino. It is easy to miss it!
