Sightseeing
This is a one of my favoutite historical sights in Edinburgh and situated right beside Holyrood Park if you want something more active, like to climb Authur Seat. There is a nice cafe in the grounds also and afterwards you want wander up the Royal Mile.

Such a fantastic daytrip and on a clear day you will get some great views. There are lots of lovely independent cafes and restaurants in The Shore close by also.

From Tollcross walk up the hill towards Bruntsfield, where you will find lots of lovely independent cafes, bars and boutique shops.
Further along from Bruntsfield is an area called Morningside, which also has lots of cafes, bars and shops, I particularly like Word of Mouth Cafe and the Hermitage Bar.
