Best butcher shop in town! Great place to grab a steak to bring back to the cabins to throw on the grill. They also have potatoes, beer, wine, etc, to cook a whole meal so you don't have to stop at the grocery store. They also prepare and package an assortment of cheeses, sausages, bacon, and other meats, including elk and bison, so you can really get the Montana experience!

Hikes

There are several beautiful and easy hikes up by the reservoir. The lake itself is gorgeous, summer or winter. If you go past the lake, to Palisade falls, there is an easy hike (it is actually paved) and so is great anytime of the year!

This beautiful trail up in Big Sky is a great summer or winter hike and is fairly easy. It ends at and amazing waterfall which freezes solid in the winter.

Recreation

Norris Hot Springs a little off the beaten path and that is why we love it! The hot springs is all wooden and has a very rustic feel. They have live music Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7pm. They sell food and drinks (yes, alcoholic!) at the pool. It is about a 30-40 minutes drive from the cabins and the drive is a bit twisty, so be careful in the winter! They are only open Thursday-Sunday.

Sightseeing

The North Entrance at Gardiner is about 1.5 hours from us. The West Entrance at West Yellowstone is about hours. It is a full day trip to go but well worth it! The park services are closed from October to the middle of May and there a lot you cannot access except by snowmobile or snowcoach. However, you can drive through the Lamar Valley to Cooke City year round, which is absolutely worth it and you will see a great deal of wildlife.

Virginia City is a ghost town that has been kept as it was in the 1800s as a little tourist trap. It was the capital of Montana when it was a territory during the gold rush beginning in 1865. It is about an hour away, just past Ennis (beautiful drive). There are some great historical tours you can take as well as some cool shops. There is also a theatrical troupe that performs in the theater there.

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

You can rent a car or use Uber to get around.

Car rentals are Hertz and Enterprise. There is also Turo.com which is a peer to peer car rental app becoming more popular. (For winter driving: a car with AWD will get you around fine. Most people here have AWD. You don't need 4WD to get to us. The roads are all plowed very quickly and we keep out driveway and road plowed.) We do have Uber and it does come out to Ross Creek. It is about $40 each way to get into Bozeman. Downtown Bozeman also has a pretty good bus system you could use to get around in town.
Antes de que te vayas

Book major activities as far in advance as you can.

Outdoor guided activities and rentals book up very quickly, especially in the summer. So if you are planning on going horseback riding or doing a guided fishing trip, book as far in advance as you can to make sure you get the dates you want. The best outfitters book up months in advance. Also some rentals, such as atvs, snowmobiles, rafts, etc. book up in advance. So if you have a specific dates you want to go, try to book at least a few weeks in advance.
