Great for appetizers and drinks... and the mains are great as well! Some of our favorite starters are the Tater Tot Poutine (make sure to get it Chef's Style) and the Brussels & Cauliflower. Support this cozy, intimate, locally-owned spot in midtown, a quick 3 miles from the house! Consider making a reservation if you don't want to wait. They are usually open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday-Saturday (as of Fall 2022). Street parking is available on 4th and in the neighborhood surrounding, as well as one or two small and as of fall 2022, free parking lots near the Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Store. Look for the Midtown Parking signs off of 3rd and 4th.

Great wood-fired pizza ranging from basic margherita pizza to more adventurous Gordy with dates and gorgonzola. If you are ok with spice, try the Thai, it's one of our favorites! They also have gluten-free and vegan options.

Great local restaurant with outstanding food. Busy weekends, so go a little earlier to beat the crowds, or be prepared to wait a little bit. They have some great basic breakfasts and their omelettes are top notch. Feeling adventurous? We'd recommend you try the breakfast spaghetti with pesto, pork sausage, and eggs over-easy or over-medium. Don't forget the rosemary toast with lemon curd! YUM!

Omg yum. Boujee tacos but worth it! We’ve had almost everything on their menu and we love it all! Treat yourself and get one of their margaritas, you won’t regret it! If you don’t drink alcohol, their agua frescas are also delightful.

One of our favorites - locally owned and operated with some great local brews and bites. Excellent beer, nachos, weekly specials, and snack options including a pint glass of bacon! Can't go wrong with the weekly special, in our opinion. They're tucked away in a neighborhood so close early (usually 8ish) so check hours before you go.

An Idaho chain with just 3 locations, Bardenay is located in Riverstone. Their menu is huge, so there is something for everyone and in our experience, they're pretty good with accommodating those who are gluten free, dairy free, or otherwise trying to navigate a food allergy, sensitivity, or preference. In the summertime, their patio seating is hard to beat, located right on the pond at Riverstone.

Activities

Great local hiking area immediately in town. There is a 2.7 mile trail that goes around the hill, as well as an upper trail that goes up and over the hill. Wildflowers abound in the spring, and in the summer, get out on or in the water, whether that means renting a watercraft to circle Tubbs Hill, finding a small beach to relax at for a while, or jumping in to the lake to cool off. The trail is also available in fall and winter, though in the winter it's recommended you have some traction devices just in case. Easiest access is off of McEuen Park and there is parking in a large lot off of 3rd and Front (pay to park). You can also park in a lot near City Hall and the Coeur d'Alene Library located near 8th and Bancroft or by parking in a smaller lot located off of 10th Street at the East Tubbs Trailhead. These two lots free as of Spring 2023.

Another great hiking area, relatively close to town, but you'll need a car to get here. The Mineral Ridge Trail climbs up the hill to the ridge for a nice view of Lake Coeur d'Alene and then plunges back down the hill to the parking lot. The hike is about 3 miles total. Along the way, you can see a couple of old areas where miners dug exploratory holes searching for minerals. In the winter, especially in the weeks around Christmas, this is a good spot to try to look for bald eagles around the bay. The parking lot can get a little crowded in the summer time.

An old rails to trails project, we have 27ish miles of trail perfect for walking, running, biking, or picnicking along the Spokane River or Lake Coeur d'Alene. It goes through Riverstone, along the river to NIC Beach and City Park, through McEuen Park, past Tubbs Hill and out to Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene Drive, getting quieter and more scenic the further out on Lake CDA Drive you go. There are some picnic areas at Higgins Point, in City Park and McEuen Park, as well as at NIC Beach if you'd like to relax.

From May to October, there is a Saturday farmer's market in Hayden. Vendors range but there are usually farmers with produce and flowers, butchers, local food and coffee vendors, crafts, soaps, jewelry, and more. Parking can feel chaotic but there are quite a few parking lots in the area once you start looking. There is live music every week as well.

Harrison is a tiny little spot on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Many people boat down but you can also drive the scenic 97 to Harrison. Sightseeing

The trail is 70 miles long and there are a bunch of other trailheads to explore. Here are a couple of options to consider: Ride 15 miles from Plummer to Harrison. The trail is paved and gives you the chance to see deer, elk, moose, turtles, bald eagles, herons, and so much more. You can spend some time in Harrison, relaxing at the public beach, getting ice cream, or grabbing lunch. You can arrange a shuttle from Harrison back to Plummer (check with The Cycle Haus in Harrison), or just ride back to Plummer (keeping in mind the gentle downhill ride you had leaving Plummer!) You could even do a brewery or pub bike tour with stops in Wallace and Kellogg. City Limits in Wallace and Radio City Brewing are some of our favorites out that way, but both towns have a growing restaurant scene. If you need a shuttle, check with the Wallace Inn for shuttle information (current as of 2023!).

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Parking downtown

Most of our street parking downtown is 2 hours free. Depending on the time of year and how much you're willing to walk, there's a good chance you can find a spot. Note: The ticket guy is pretty on it, so we wouldn't recommend you push too far past the 2 hours. However, there are paid lots at 4th and Coeur d'Alene, Independence Point (where NW Blvd hits Sherman, just before the CdA Resort), and at McEuen Park (lot is on Front Street between 5th & 6th). These are great if you want to spend the day and not have to worry about having to move your car.
