Best kept secret if you want to escape the tourist. Get for swimming, boating, picnics, etcBroadford Recreational Park is a family oriented park owned by the Town of Oakland. The park offers a lake, picnic and beach areas, volleyball, basketball, boat launch, boat and pavilion rentals. The park also hosts events through the year such as the annual Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd with a beautiful Fireworks display for the Town, the Lions Club Redneck Dayz, and the occasional music concert. Broadford Park will officially open Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day weekend. The Mayor and Town Council of Oakland invite you to come out to Broadford Recreation area and enjoy a day of relaxation with your family. ​FISHING The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) maintains information on the lake fishing here. RATES Daily admission to Broadford Park is $3 per car load Monday-Friday. It is $4 per car load on Saturday & Sunday. There are some exceptions including July 3rd Fireworks at the park and special events such as Redneck Dayz. Boat rentals are $5.00 per/hr. OR $15.00 per/day this includes: John Boats, Canoes, Kayaks, Paddle Boats Broadford Senior Passes are also available for those ages 62 and older. These passes are good for a lifetime and can be obtained by bringing in your driver's license or ID to Oakland City Hall. ​ ​Broadford Family Passes are available at City Hall. Passes are $30 for those living in Oakland City limits. This means you vote in the Oakland Municipal Election for the Mayor, Town Council members, etc. Those living outside of city limits the cost is $35. The passes are not valid for Firework days or special events ie. Redneck Dayz. ​The application for the pass can be downloaded here. It can be filled out and taken with payment to Oakland City Hall or mailed to: Oakland City Hall 15 S. Third Street Oakland, MD 21550 A pass will then be mailed back to you.
