Parks & Nature

There are lots of access points to the Oakland Hills; this one offers a network of hiking trails that make you feel like you're in another world when in fact you are only minutes away (by car) from College Ave, the UC Berkeley campus, and downtown Berkeley. Getting out "into nature" can be daunting in the Bay Area because of often mind boggling freeway traffic. This trip into the hills will save you a car ride headache and get you straight into a dreamy forest bathing situation.

Shopping

The Elmwood strip on College Avenue (between Webster and Russell Streets, approximately) is full of shops, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, etc. Strolling Elmwood is a charming way to spend an afternoon. If you're looking for a little more magic in your life, take a turn west on Ashby and look out for Tail of the Yak Trading Co. and Lewin's Metaphysical Books.
