Neighborhood

The beach area in Tulum is almost 4 km from Town. The Tulum- Boca Paila Road (beachroad) is a long rustic Road that goes all along the beach area from the Ruins to Punta Allen. Along the road you will find bars, restaurantes, clubs and boutiques. The begining of the area (CASA NOA location) is a little less crowded and noisy. However, all the beach area is commercial and turistic almost all year so be ready for noise, people and traffic chaos. A few kms. down the road you can find all Rosa Negra's group restaurant and beach clubes, Gitano and more. You canmove around by bike, scooter or taxi. The taxis are not cheap and the price depends on destination and hours. The rates are not the same in the morning than at night. For example from the bus station to our house is aprox$300 mxn. Renting a car is always a good idea, if you´re more into exploring town, cenotes and local attractions. However, moving around the beach area is better with a bike or a scooter.

Transporte

We always recommend renting a car if your plan is to move around and visit different cenotes and spots. However, renting a bike or scooter is always a good option! Some options: Ola bike Iguana bike Scooters Tulum ( please mention Casa NOA for a preferential price) There are shuttles that go from the beach to town and back. Used mainly by local workers, they are a chep option to go around if you are not in a hurry. They pass by every hour.

Transportation

You can move around the beach area in many ways. It depends if you're staying at the beach, in town and what kind of activities you are interested in. Renting a bike is always a good option. Cheap, plenty of places to park and easy to move in if you are used to it. The negative side is during hot summer days, or if you are planning on moving long distances at night. Be careful with traffic and get lights! Scooters are very popular now a days too. Also a pretty cheap option and easy to park. Taxis are very expensive, but you can take the shuttles

Basics

Tulum is surrounded by jungle, cenotes and humidity. So, you'll always be in need of a good repellent. If it's biodegradable would be great, the same with sunblocks. Remember the cenotes are our water resources and everything in your skin would end up there. Never wear greasy repellents, sunblocks or creams when visiting a Cenote. Sunglasses are a must as well, the sun can get so strong.
