I've tried many ramen restaurants in Honolulu, and Agu is my favorite because its savory broth, delicious sweet-yolk egg, bamboo shoots, vegetables and more! Good news that it has opened 2 other locations.

Although people might flock to Ono Hawaiian food on Kapahulu street because its known to the tourists, I'd prefer this 60-year old family run Highway Inn restaurant. Since its new opening in Kakaako, it gives the Hawaiian food a modern touch (and stays budget friendly)! I love all their dishes!

Although people go to Leonard's for its infamous Malasada, but Champion's malasada is much better, and the wait is within 1 or 2 minutes.

This small mother-daughter family owned restaurant has the most scrumptious Indian food I've had in Hawaii! Their menus are updated every few months with fresh local ingredient; and they made all their salad dressings daily. They only open during lunch time Monday through Hawaii.

The first Taiwanese style vegetarian restaurant in Honolulu. It is operated by the Buddha Light Buddhism organization, and serviced all by volunteers. There are about 10 dishes prepared per day, with different options of soft drinks. Here you will be greeted by friendly volunteers, and clean and modern decor. It has gotten much more foot traffic and has definitely gotten very popular since its opening February this year.

Vietnamese food with modern twist and flair! I was pleasantly surprised with the chef's creativity the first time I tried this restaurant since its first new opening. A must try during your trip in Hawaii!

Drinks & Nightlife

I tried to search Mac 24/7 here but there wasn't on Airbnb's listing here. This bar is located on the first floor of Hilton Waikiki Beach hotel, 2 blocks away from my place. I went there for a late night drink and pupu (appetizers). Although there is no view, their pupu (at the bar) was off the chart awesome (roughly $20 per order), and drinks were very good.

I was introduced to this hole in the wall type of bar by my local Korean friends and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drinks. It's been one of my favorite hangout places with friends.
