Almost any road out of Lexington will lead you to horse country. With either Leestown Road (Highway 421) or Old Frankfort Pike (Highway 62) you get a beautiful drive through horse country on your way three great distilleries, Woodford Reserve, Castle & Key (both on McCracken Pike) and Buffalo Trace in Frankfort Kentucky.

The Isaac Murhpy Art Garden is a trailhead for the Legacy Trail that connects to the Kentucky Horse Park to the North and the Town Branch Trail connecting to Lexington's Distrillery District. Isaac Murphy is buried at the Horse Park and he rode for James Pepper who founded the Pepper Distillery on Manchester Street. Located in Lexington's historic East End, this art garden is located on Issac and Lucy Burns' homesite. The East End neighborhood was home to many of the horsemen, owners, trainers and jockeys who were the foundation of the thoroughbred industry as we know it today. Google "Kentucky Association Racetrack" for more info on the area. Isaac Burns Murphy was an American Hall of Fame jockey, who is considered to be one of the greatest riders in American Thoroughbred horse racing history. Murphy won three Kentucky Derbies and was the first jockey to be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame at its creation in 1955.
