White sand beach

Beaches along the coastline of South Lombok are famous for their white sand, unlike the dark brown sand of beaches in Bali. Some of them can even be as smooth as snow.
One of the beaches that should be in your Lombok tourism list is Tanjung Aan Beach, the home of Princess Mandalika, facing the Indian Ocean for about 2 km stretch of the coastline. One thing that you will directly notice when stepping out your feet on Tanjung Aan Beach is the sand. Unlike other Lombok beaches, the sand is like pepper but white. The sea water itself is turquoise in color. The beach is perfect for those looking for the ideal beach to swim or snorkeling due to the smooth flowing wave of medium height. If you don’t bring your own equipment, you can rent high quality ones around the area. In the late afternoon, when the wave is getting high, Tanjung Aan Beach will be the rendezvous spot for surfers. Tanjung Aan Beach is surrounded by a few hills from which you can view the vast beach from higher level. Distance from Villa Alasa: 3.7 kms (6 mins by scooter) Admission: free Best time to visit: morning and afternoon Public facilities: woodshed cafeterias, toilets, motorcycle and bicycle rentals, parking lot. Other services: diving equipment: IDR 500.000 per person, boat: IDR 200.000 for four passengers.

The name of Kuta Beach is identical with the famous beach in Bali, however if you think that Kuta Beach in Bali is beautiful, then you will be stunned when you reach the Kuta Beach Lombok. Located on the south part of Lombok this glowing beach has so much cleaner white sand and wavier coastline with healthy reefs that create a dramatic appearance. The beach that has 7.2km coastline has some small hills and one that sits right on the side of the beach is called Mandalika Hill. The name is taken from a local tale about Princess Mandalika who jumped from the hill to safe herself from the princes who wanted to marry her. Nowadays, the hill becomes one of the best spots to enjoy Kuta Lombok. Since the water of Kuta Beach is still so clear, then if you climb to the hill, you can see the beauty of underwater world in some parts of the beach. Distance from Villa Alasa: 4.8 kms (8 mins by scooter) Admission: Free Best time to visit: 09:00am - 04:00pm Public Facilities: cafes & restaurants, homestays, hotels, souvenirs shops, surf-board rentals, parking lot.

Many beaches in Lombok Island especially in the South coastline are still widely unknown despite their breathtaking views and landscapes. Mawun beach is one of them. The beach is a part of a bay with horse shoe shaped and two hills surrounding it in its west and east sides. The beach has pristine white sand and soft texture in the center side of the beach. While in the west side, the sand tends to be rougher and mixed with rocks splits. The middle side of the beach’s topography is also steeper than in the west and east side. The waves in the middle part of the beach is also stronger compared to those in west and east side. On sunny days the beach would get good share of visitors, domestic and foreign but fortunately not in large amount. Domestic visitors usually come in the morning and leave the beach before the sun gets too hot. On the contrary, the foreign visitors usually hits this beach when the sun is raging hot at noon. Distance from Villa Alasa: 14.2 kms (20 mins by scooter) Admission: free Best time to visit: morning or afternoon Public facilities: parking lot, public toilets, "berugak" to relax, loungers for rent, woven cloth sellers.
