Food scene
When traveling, there’s nothing worse than wasting a good meal on bad food. Over the past 20 years, DC has transformed itself into one of the nation’s biggest foodie cities. We’re here to help you navigate the culinary landscape so that your bagels & schemer are just as memorable as the museums and memorials you visit while in the nation’s capital.
The name says it all, right? This Jew-ish deli recently opened in Park View and hasn’t disappointed, as is evident with the long lines. Try the "Bodega" with pastrami and share an order of latkes with your bestie. You can thank me later. ;)

The restaurant was just recently renamed, rebranded and reimagined from Himitsu to Pom Pom—but it’s still just as good and a must-visit if in the Petworth area. The new restaurant offers cuisine leaning on Mediterranean, Southeast Asian and Latin American flavor profiles.

This salad chain started right here in DC when three Georgetown University guys put their heads together to find a healthy alternative to fast food and college cafeterias. Fast-forward more than a decade later, and it’s a national chain that others want to copy. Don’t worry, though, the original is here and better than ever with outposts around the city. If you’re headed to DC for sightseeing, make sure you get your salad fix by downloading the app to check out all the locations around the city. And if you’re staying with us, there’s a sweetgreen in downtown Silver Spring that is starting to deliver.

The 24-seat restaurant is a cozy, transporting enclave specializing in Filipino dishes, cocktails and culture. Bad Saint can accommodate parties of 4 or fewer, and it's not recommended for babies or small children. After some of the first reviews came out, lines started forming around 3 p.m., and the restaurant was sold out daily. Fast forward years later, and it's still *that* good, but the good news is that limited reservations are now available! Reservations 4 weeks out become available each Wednesday at 11 a.m. And yes, they go quick.

This tiny restaurant is an offshoot of its highly successful mobile wood-fired pizza truck serving delicious Neapolitan pies and Argentinean bites. The restaurant offers communal seating and there’s usually a line outside the door. They do offer takeaway, but good luck in trying to call ahead—most times they’re super busy that they won’t answer their phone and you’ll have to place the to-go order in person.

This place is fancy schmancy — gorgeous, idyllic setting in the heart of Georgetown with breathtaking views of the Potomac River — but one of DC’s best deals can be found in their 3-course Sunday champagne brunch for $75/pp. And yes, it’s real champagne from France. 🍾🥂

This is the hottest ticket in town right now. The Museum requires timed-entry passes for certain peak times and seasons when visitation is highest. These tickets are FREE, but usually require a $1 administrative fee. During off-peak times, when visitation is lower, visitors can enter the Museum on weekdays without passes.
* Off-Peak Season is September through February during which timed passes are only required on weekends. Walk-up weekday entry begins at 10am Monday through Friday. Passes are available online three months in advance and are issued the first Wednesday of every month.
* Peak Season is March through August during which advance-timed passes and same-day online-timed passes are required for entry before 1pm and on the weekends. Walk-up weekday entry begins at 1pm Monday through Friday. Passes are available online three months in advance and are issued the first Wednesday of every month.
* During both peak and off-peak seasons, same-day online passes are released at 6:30am, Monday through Sunday — and they go quick (like within seconds)! At all times and during all seasons, groups also are required to have passes. Walk-up entry is not available on Saturdays or Sundays due to high visitation.
