16km west of Chora lies Paleopoli, the ancient city of Andros, which flourished from the classical to the late Roman era. In addition, in the wider area of Paleopoli, it is located the prehistoric settlement of Plaka, the geometric settlement of Zagora, as well as a fortified settlement of the Neolithic period (4500-3300 BC), where there have been discovered rock paintings depicting various animals, ships and linear figures.

Touring in the inland is a real revelation. The visitor encounters chestnut, walnut and plane trees, oaks, willows and mulberries, poplar, wickers and of course olive trees.
Hikers will be also captivated by the stone paved trails, with the appropriate markings, that run through the meadows smelling of thyme, saffron and sage.
