Jupiter's iconic lighthouse has guided boaters since 1860. Kids 48" and taller can climb the 105 steps for a panoramic view of Jupiter, Jupiter Island, and the Atlantic Ocean. There is a fee, and children under age 16 musty be accompanied by an adult.

This 666-acre park is a north county gem. Rent bicycles to explore the park, or go back in time to "old Florida" by kayaking or canoeing down the iconic Loxahatchee River, designated as a National Wild and Scenic River. Expect to see wading birds, turtles and maybe even a gator or two. This park is also home to Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park, whose inhabitants stretch back over 5,000 years.

Dubois has always been a popular place for the littles, as it offers a protected lagoon, play structures, and plenty of picnic areas with grills, restrooms and showers. Dubois offers 1,200' of intracoastal access with day use boat slips, and a snorkeling lagoon for the bigs. A word of caution - the DuBois lagoon area is known to be closed occasionally (after heavy use) due to a high bacteria count as the lagoon doesn't fully 'flush' out :-(

This unassuming hole-in-the-wall Latin market right down the street from the townhouse is home to one of the best burritos around. Their lightly battered fried shrimp is another favorite of mine. Great "takeout" spot for authentic latin food, e.g., barbacoa and carnitas.
