If you are a nature lover and want to have a sample of the rich vegetation of the region. I suggest you to visit the "Ecoparque Bataclan", which is located on the east side of Cerro de las Tres Cruces, just a few minutes from Sixth Avenue. ( Remember Sixth Avenue is the main avenue near by the apartment) To me is amazing to have a natural reserve right in the middle of the city, I am sure you never expect to be a couple of blocks away from an Andean natural reserve. This eco-park is visited by athletes, walkers and nature lovers for having multiple ecological trails and a maximum height of 1,250 meters above sea level. The eco-park consists of 18 hectares of hilly land and has three trails: Los Eucaliptos, Barreras Vivas and Los Deportistas. At present the soil of the area is being recovering and has an extensive tree species. Similarly, habitat favors the sighting of small birds and butterfly species of great importance. On this park, which is managed by the Dagma, is offered to the public environmental education programs, techniques of recycling and composting. The best time to visit the park is in the mornings, plan ahead to be there early and make sure you are in the company of others, calculate the time you want to walk back and try to be back before 4:00 pm and get ready to have a cool drink or an ice cream near by the neighborhood. From its origins Cali has been intimate ligated to its River or "Rio Cali" how is called by its inhabitants. The river has shaped, dictated and divided my beloved city since its begins. In fact the river divides the city and even the number of the streets are based on their proximity to the "Rio Cali" If you are in the west part of the city, you must go to "El Museo La Tertulia" and walk around its back side in the penon area. The museum has one of my favorite tree in the entire city and in its walls hosts all kind of cultural activities. Once you visit the museum, go for a walk and shelter yourself from the heat in one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area. Sit there and admire the picturesque local scene. Experience Cali like its inhabitants do, be a Caleno for the time being. An Uber/ Taxi ride is not longer than 6 minutes (depending on the traffic) Although it is a short walk, it can be a little confusing and you can easily get lost. Best time to get there is when there is sunlight. Lugar perfecto para tener una vista espectacular de la ciudad, ademas de observar un tradicional Cali neighborhood. Perfect place to have a view of the entire city, also to admire a very traditional Cali neighborhood. An Uber/ Taxi ride is not longer than 6 minutes (depending on the traffic) Although it is a short walk, it can be a little confusing and you can easily get lost. Best time to get there is when there is sunlight. Lugar perfecto para tener una vista espectacular de la ciudad, ademas de observar un tradicional Cali neighborhood. Un Uber/ Taxi te llevara alla en 6 minutos. Aunque es cerca del apartamento caminar hasta alli es bastante confuso. La mejor hora para estar alli es durante las horas de luz.
El Gato del Río ("The River Cat") is a collection of sculptures by Colombian artist Hernando Tejada. The sculpture was inaugurated on July 3, 1996 and is located on the side of the Cali River in Cali, Colombia. Over time, it has turned into a famous landmark of the city. In 2006, the city planned a revitalization project for the area, which included adding new sculptures near El Gato del Río by other artists. The project consisted of adding 15 new cat sculptures of the same size and shape but painted by different Colombian artists. These new cat sculptures became known as las novies del gato ("the cat's girlfriends"). Famous Colombian artists contributed cats, including Maripaz Jaramillo, Roberto Molano, Diego Pombo, Cecilia Coronel, Pedro Alcántara, and Omar Rayo. This amazing walk is just around the corner of our house, a great place to have ice cream and relax under the beautiful gigantic trees located in the Rivera of the Rio Cali. An experience that is exclusive to the West of the city. Today, there are more than 15 cat sculptures exhibited and some of these have been distributed throughout the city. El Gato del Río ("El gato del río") es una colección de esculturas del artista colombiano Hernando Tejada. El Gato Del Rio
El Gato del Río ("The River Cat") is a collection of sculptures by Colombian artist Hernando Tejada. The sculpture was inaugurated on July 3, 1996 and is located on the side of the Cali River in Cali, Colombia. Over time, it has turned into a famous landmark of the city. In 2006, the city planned a revitalization project for the area, which included adding new sculptures near El Gato del Río by other artists. The project consisted of adding 15 new cat sculptures of the same size and shape but painted by different Colombian artists. These new cat sculptures became known as las novies del gato ("the cat's girlfriends"). Famous Colombian artists contributed cats, including Maripaz Jaramillo, Roberto Molano, Diego Pombo, Cecilia Coronel, Pedro Alcántara, and Omar Rayo. This amazing walk is just around the corner of our house, a great place to have ice cream and relax under the beautiful gigantic trees located in the Rivera of the Rio Cali. An experience that is exclusive to the West of the city. Today, there are more than 15 cat sculptures exhibited and some of these have been distributed throughout the city. If you prefer to walk it will take you just 10 minutes. Cali people are well-known to enjoy a cup of coffee after six pm. Besides having a delicious cup of 100% Colombian coffee, you will witness a cultural Cali tradition called "Tertulia" or informal and regular meetings where people congregate interested in the same topic to discuss, learn and share opinions .
