The Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum was founded in 1995 by George and Arlene Wagner who donated their huge nutcracker collection and the building in which it is housed. The museum became a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and others have donated nutcrackers, and now it contains over 7000 specimens, probably one of the world's largest collection of nut-opening devices. The museum contains not only the ever popular wooden toy soldier type so often seen at Christmas, but many shelves of antiques dating back to roman times. Nutcrackers are shown in many different woods and metals, ivory and man-made materials. Nutting stones are also shown from the archaic period--four to eight thousand years old. The museum shows nutcrackers from over 50 countries and has been visited by residents of over 70 countries. It has been featured on television with the Food Network, Arts and Entertainment, and Sunday Morning CBS. Arlene Wagner also made an appearance on the Conan show. Displays have been sent to various cities in the US and also to Hong Kong and Shanghai. Power point presentations have been given to various groups throughout the US and Germany. In 2005 the museum published an award winning coffee table book 'The Art & Character of NUTCRACKERS' showing over 1000 specimens from the museum. An addendum to this book has been published in 2015 showing nearly 400 more nutcrackers from the museum. The museum also published 'The Nutcracker Lady's Introduction to Nutcrackers', an informative soft cover book for students and collectors, in conjunction with the Seiffener Nussknackerhaus in Germany.

Established 1974 The late John and Karen Rieke created the Wood Shop Toy Store in July of 1974. Karen, a former elementary school teacher and John, a short-lived attorney turned Lutheran Pastor decided to follow their entrepreneurial spirit in the burgeoning tourist town of Leavenworth, Washington. The original Wood Shop was located in the back suite of 833 Front Street. All the Wood Shop merchandise was handmade by John inside the store. He and Karen stocked two of everything, and when Karen sold an item, John simply retreated to his tools to replace the sold ware. In the summer of 1975 the Wood Shop's exposure improved when the business moved to the front of the building. Wood Shop profits during the early years were lean, requiring John to take on extra work as a plumber for Stroup Plumbing of Leavenworth. With the toy maker away for most of the day it became necessary for Karen to purchase more of the shop's inventory. This proved a good strategy as the Wood Shop and the town of Leavenworth continued to grow over the next seven years. In the spring of 1982, the Wood Shop moved location to 721 Front Street where the Hat Shop is today. In 1986, the Woodshop moved next door to its present location at 719 Front Street. John & Karen Rieke also had a vision of a shop filled with hats. Their second business dream came to fruition with the opening of The Hat Shop in April of 1987. John was able to witness the Hat Shop's successful growth before passing away in 1995. This left the energetic Karen Rieke alone to run both businesses until her passing in the spring of 2006. The Wood Shop & Hat Shop businesses continue to be family owned and operated.

November & December: Most popular time of year, book your tickets early! Complimentary cocoa, cider and cookies are included in your ticket price. Santa Claus will be at every farm tour starting the second week of November and all the way through December. Photos with Santa do not cost extra, please bring your own camera. Staff will be on hand to help with photos. Tickets sell out quickly during the holidays, we recommend booking at least 2 months in advance. We will typically be open 5-6 days a week during this time of year, please see our calendar for current availability. Tour times start at 9am and end at 3pm, starting every 30 minutes. Your visit will last approx. 1 hour. January & February: These months are your best bet for a snowy farm experience with smaller crowd sizes throughout town. Also, keep in mind, the holiday lights will stay lit in downtown Leavenworth through at least Valentines Day. We will typically be open 4 days a week during this time of year, Fridays - Mondays. Tour times start at 10am and end at 1pm, starting every 30 minutes. Your visit will last approx. 1 hour. See our calendar for current availability. March: CLOSED FOR ANNUAL FARM IMPROVEMENTS during the snow melt, and to prepare the herd for the arrival of baby reindeer! Closing dates may vary, please check the website calendar for availability. April: Spring is a wonderful time to visit the farm, with the smallest crowd sizes of the year and the chance to meet baby Reindeer! Calves typically begin to arrive in mid-April. Please follow us on Facebook for current baby announcements if you are planning a visit with the newest members of our herd. Most of our herd will be in the process of shedding and regrowing antlers as well as shedding their white winter coats during this time. The farm will have limited availability during this time. We will typically offer only one mid-morning farm tour on Fridays - Mondays. May - October: Warm weather and sunshine can be expected during this time of year. Our herd will be busy growing their new antlers (up to 1 inch a day!). The herd will be sporting their new chocolate colored, thinner summer coats. This is the safest time of year for small children to visit the farm because antlers are covered in soft velvet. In October, reindeer begin shedding their velvet to reveal their hardened full grown antlers. Rut begins in October and our breeding bulls will be separated from the public for safety.

Back in 2013 we opened our doors as a quaint pizzeria called, Idlewild Pizza. The concept was born in the mountains of Colorado, at what was once the Idlewild ski area. The goal was to bring delicious, hand crafted pizza to the community of Leavenworth. After three years and quite a bit of thought we decided we needed more. Our dream grew to share our love of craft beer, and Blewett Brewing Company was formed with the addition of an onsite production brewery. Today, our brew team enjoys creating an ever-changing variety of small batch brews that can be enjoyed in house or taken to go on any adventure. Eric and Allison recently welcomed their first child into the world, and when they aren't busy raising their daughter Brooklyn, they can be found exploring this beautiful valley, skiing our local mountains, or playing in the dirt on two wheels. They are lucky enough to call Blewett Pass home. Blewett Brewing is proud to be a part of the Leavenworth community and thanks everyone for their continued support.

In the early 1900s, M.L. Monson brought his family to the Yakima Valley, armed with a love for the land and the dream of building a family farming business that would continue for generations. Initially, the Monsons focused on orchards and cattle. But after talking with Dr. Walter Clore, widely recognized as the visionary behind Washington’s wine industry, Arvid Monson built on the legacy of the land started by his father and began to establish vineyards in the arid hills and valleys around Richland. With that, Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery was born.

Our deep roots, or should we say rhizomes, in the beer world began more than 140 years ago, in the Yakima Valley, when Founder Oliver Brulotte’s family first started working in the hop industry. Oliver himself was a fifth-generation hop farmer with his family farm, A/B Hop Farms, in Prosser, WA. The farm was founded by Oliver’s parents, Ben and Tracy Brulotte, and uncle, Arnold Brulotte. If you look today, you will find that every can of Icicle beer has an A/B Hop Farms logo on it to pay homage to our past. jm_A7R8244 Before A/B Hop Farms, Oliver’s grandmother, Doris Brulotte farmed hops in Moxee, WA along with multiple generations before her. We are particularly proud of Oliver’s mom and grandmother who were two of the first female hop driers in the industry, which is a special art that can greatly affect the value of hops. jm_A7R8263 In 2010, with the helpful knowledge and skills of brewmaster and friend, Dean Priebe, Oliver and Pamela created Icicle Brewing Company. Through Oliver’s roots in hop farming and his passion to craft amazing beer, the Brulotte’s opened the doors to Icicle Brewing Company in April of 2011 at our Front Street location in the mountain village of Leavenworth, WA.

We’ll just come right out and say it: Washington State produces some of the best wines in the world. This ancient land has been shaped by geological forces hundreds of millions of years in the making, and the result is a range of terroir as perfectly suited to growing pristine grapes, and crafting world-class wines, as anywhere in the United States. At Silvara Cellars, our guiding principle has always been the same: To craft small-production wine from the very best vineyard sites in the Pacific Northwest, and to express the majesty of this land in every bottle we produce. We take deep, passionate pride to be making wine in Washington State, and we hope you feel the same sense of excitement that we do every time you take a sip. From the sweeping vistas of the Cascades to the woodlands and ancient soils that define our amazing terroir, our wines embody everything that makes the Pacific Northwest so special.
