Here's a few of our favorite local restaurants in Joshua Tree and the surrounding area.
Great barbeque in Joshua Tree Village, about 5 minutes down the road. We suggest arriving early or being prepared for long wait times on holiday weekends, but we think the ribs are worth the wait!

Our date night favorite is Kitchen in the Desert, which has an awesome outdoor patio in Twentynine Palms. Reservations are available online, and music/events are posted on social media. We've always had mellow experiences here, but note that we've heard it can get a little rowdy when the neighboring motel has pool parties or late at night when they have DJs.

One of our favorites, Pappy & Harriet's is a live music venue and barbeque restaurant in the heart of Pioneertown. Again, we suggest arriving early or being prepared for long wait times, particularly on holiday weekends, but we think the barbeque and ambiance are worth the wait! Hiking
Here's a few of our favorite, more off-the-beaten path hikes in Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding area. Please be sure to bring lots of water, stay on designated paths, and avoid hiking during extreme heat, for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Located walking distance from the house is a beautiful hike on lands owned by Mojave Desert Land Trust. This is a quiet trail nestled in the boulders behind the house with great views of the valley and National Park. The trailhead is well-marked at the end of Sunny Vista Road.

Fortynine Palms Oasis TrailA 3 mile roundtrip hike to a desert oasis in Twentynine Palms. One of our favorite hikes in the National Park. This hike is a 1.3 mile loop in the Black Rock Canyon portion of the National Park to a peak that offers views of the surrounding mountains and desert.

High View Nature Loop Trail
This hike is a 1.3 mile loop in the Black Rock Canyon portion of the National Park to a peak that offers views of the surrounding mountains and desert.
Admittedly not so off-the-beaten path, this is a neat 1.4 mile hike through boulders to an archway in the main portion of the National Park.

Hidden Valley Nature Trail is a well-frequented one-mile loop through boulders and Joshua Trees near the park's west entrance. It is one of our favorite hikes in the park and a must-see for first time visitors.

For the desert peace seekers, the Integratron is a historic, one-of-a-kind dome that is used for public and private sound baths. Sounds baths are booked in advance. We recommend arriving a little early to enjoy the peaceful property!
