Head to the golden sands of this Blue Flag-awarded beach to swim, try water-sports and take in the views of the rock formations along the Bahía de Boquerón. With its broad expanse of soft golden sands, pristine ocean waters and natural setting, Boquerón Beach is one of the village’s premier attractions. Stretching over a mile (1.6 kilometers) south of the picturesque bayside village of Boquerón, the beach has plenty of space for fun and relaxation. Bring the kids to this family-friendly beach and play in the shallows or explore the coast on a thrilling Jet Ski adventure tour. Go for a stroll along the crescent-shaped sweep of sand and enjoy Boquerón Beach’s views. You’ll see the glassy shoreline recede into the deep cerulean blue of the Bahía de Boquerón, pierced by the tiny island Roca Velásquez. Wander out on the small jetty and peer into the waters below. The beach has been awarded a Blue Flag for its water quality and clarity. Spread out your towel on the sand or pick a spot beneath the shade of palm and almond trees. In spring be ready to photograph the vivid red blooms of the royal poinciana trees that stand on the foreshore, which is protected by the Parque Nacional Balneario Boquerón. Dig your toes into the soft sands and enjoy the warmth of a sunny day. Cool off with a swim in the water and splash in the shallows. If you feel like getting some exercise, rent a stand-up paddleboard and cruise along the coastline. You’ll find operators renting Jet Skis and other watersports equipment on the northern end of the beach. Join a Jet Ski tour to see some of Boquerón’s stunning coastal sights. Return in the evening to check out one of Puerto Rico’s best sunset-viewing spots. Boquerón Beach is located to the south of the village. It can be reached on foot from the Poblado de Boquerón and the resort areas around the marina. There is plenty of parking available on-site at the Parque Nacional Balneario Boquerón. Public restrooms and showers are available; however, these are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the off-peak season. The beach is free to visit anytime.
