Sightseeing
Be sure to plan on driving through this bridge. It is the only one you can!!! This bridge saw two fires and was rebuilt and has a special place in our communities heart. The park nearby the bridge is where Oprah had a special filming of her talk show regarding the book Bridges of Madison County.

Be sure to take time to visit this limestone castle structure in our City Park. I recommend driving up there unless you are in for an uphill hike. Climb up the top of the tower if you are able to see a fantastic view. It is especially pretty in the Fall. It was built in honor of Caleb Clark who did much limestone structure building in Iowa.
Clark Tower
ParkBe sure to take time to visit this limestone castle structure in our City Park. I recommend driving up there unless you are in for an uphill hike. Climb up the top of the tower if you are able to see a fantastic view. It is especially pretty in the Fall. It was built in honor of Caleb Clark who did much limestone structure building in Iowa.
If you want to see an amazing sunset on a clear day head out to the Hogback Bridge. It is in a peaceful setting and will give you a chance to take some amazing photos.

Find out the history of John Wayne during their museum and birthplace tour. You may recognize some movie artifacts if you are a big fan of his. They have a gift shop on site where you buy a gift for your favorite John Wayne fan.

This is a great place to have a picnic lunch and/or take your kids to a playground. The city campground is adjacent to this park. Your group can rent one of the limestone shelters for large gatherings if needed. And remember to not miss the Clark Tower look out tower. i recommend driving up there unless you are an ambitious walker/hiker. It is such a pretty drive/walk up there. You don't feel like you are in the middle of town.

Some of the bridges are on gravel roads.
There are six covered bridges in Madison County. Some require you to drive on gravel roads. That might not be a big deal for some but if you are on a motorcycle or in a classic car I thought you may want to know there are two bridges on pavement. The Imes and Cutler Donahoe bridges.
