Food scene

Best traditional NY-style pizza around, and right around the corner. Best thing there is a NY-style pizza with an AZ twist: the "Al Pastor What?" pizza. It's spicy, savory, just a little bit sweet and totally unique.

The Ivan burger is incredibly good. On top of that, The Attic features an excellent selection of craft beer on draft, and a fun second-floor patio for taking in views of Camelback mountain.

City/town information

While Phoenix is great itself, for a bit of a change of pace head to the famous downtown Scottsdale--just about a 10-12 minute drive away. Downtown Scottsdale is super walkable and features great restaurants, plenty of culture, and a renowned night life.

Phoenix really has it all! It's the 6th largest city in the US and has something for everyone. Urban hiking, great restaurants and bars, plenty of shopping, live music, and easy access to everything with large straight roads and plenty of parking almost everywhere.

Neighborhoods

This is the hood you are staying in, and it's awesome. An abundance of restaurants and bars surround an upscale residential area. Exceedingly walkable whether you want to get some food, have a drink, or just get some fresh air and stroll. One thing that is unique in AZ about Arcadia Lite and a few nearby Phoenix neighborhoods is the flood irrigation. Yards flood about once a week with non-potable water via the canal that runs through the city, allowing for a cheap and environmentally-responsible way to have a green grass, plants, gardens and large trees in the middle of the desert.

What's up with flood irrigation?

We are very fortunate at this property to have flood irrigation from the Salt River Project. Flood irrigation is unique to mainly historic Phoenix neighborhoods and is a sustainable solution for pet and kid friendly grass and tall trees since it uses non-potable run-off water from the canal system. Instead of nightly sprinklers that use drinking-water, flood irrigation floods the yard for a period of about 3 hours on irrigation days with damp grass for a day.
