Beaches and Parks in Vancouver

Sightseeing

Relax on the golden sands of Kitsilano beach, with its views of Downtown Vancouver, or take a dip in the famous Kitsilano Beach Pool (paid admission). The beach is filled with sunbathers, volleyball players, and ocean swimmers. Paddle boarding and kayaking are possible along Kits Beach. The large grassy area surrounding the beach accommodates large picnics and people playing frisbee, basketball, and spike ball in the summer. This is probably a Vancouverite's favourite spot to be during the summer season. Eat at the local concession stands, or at the restaurants and pubs on Cornwall Avenue & Yew Street (across from the beach park).

One of Vancouver's best beaches, Jericho/Spanish Banks/Locarno Beach is one long beach that spans much of the Point Grey neighbourhood all the way to UBC. Along with Kits Beach, this is one of Vancouver's top beaches. This beach is very large and it is very quiet as people are spread out. It is a bit more remote than Kits Beach, while still offering fantastic views of Downtown Vancouver. Jericho Beach is popular for running (on the extensive trail system separating the beach from the grassy area), sailing, and beach volleyball (both beach and on the grass). If you enjoy long walks on the beach, then this is the beach for you! Eat at one of the many city-run concession stands that line the border between the beach and the grass (along the running trails).

One of the nicest parks in all of Vancouver. It is also in the centre of Vancouver and easy to get to. It offers many walking paths, koi ponds, a sculpture outdoor exhibit at the top, and a rose garden. Many people take their wedding pictures here. The Bloedel Conservatory (paid admission) features exotic plants and birds, and it can be accessed at the top of the park. You can also play pitch-and-putt at the golf course.
