Sightseeing

there really are so many sightseeing activities available in and around the Mount & Tauranga. I have included some of my favorite things to do. I still visit all the places I have listed as you can never tire of them as they have ever changing landscapes. These sightseeing trips are all very economical or free so all very kind on the piggy bank.
These is a few options here to consider before embarking on climbing to the summit of Mount Maunganui. There is always the far easier option of walking the track around the base that has some great sites to see around the way. The summit climb isn't the easiest stroll in the park but no peak ever is. The physical effort you invest is worth every drop of sweat as the views from the top are breathtaking. So if you are able DO IT TODAY!

These beautiful and tranquil gardens are set directly on the edge of the inner Tauranga harbour. With water-lily ponds, mature trees from around the world, flower gardens and natural wetlands the gardens are a delight all year round. And with many varieties of birds wandering free and in aviaries scattered throughout the gardens. The gardens are a great family day outing and place to unwind, take a couple of friends & go find your happy place at the Katikati Bird Gardens

This whole park has been created by locals who do a work bee at the quarry twice a week. The quarry was no longer operational & what was left behind when they stopped quarrying was just a big ugly mess so this has been a 25 year labour of love for the Te Puna locals, who have created a remarkable place for locals & visitors to enjoy. It is multi tiered, with surprises around every corner. Sculptures, art & much much more. Entry is a gold coin donation. It is well worth the drive to visit this place. There is plenty of parking available, tables under trees, water fountains, & toilets. No shop so take your own supplies. Take your sneakers too.

Food scene

There is everything you could ever need in the quaint little shopping village of 1 story high buildings. Some boutique style shopping, a little bit design or a little bit fashionista. whatever you are into. There are hair salons & barbers, there is Sisters (for the sisters) down the other end (at the round about by Burger king) there are some great eats in the Mount now try Mexicali for some tasty cheap eats, Mexican street food kind of thing. Or try the almost famous Rice Rice Baby! In fact you must try Rice Rice Baby. Asian Fusion at little plastic tables, with little enamel plates & little enamel mugs to drink wine from, then in the back ground there is some loud drum & bass or really loud house music pumping, its all quite a sensory overload. AWESOME food thou! I haven't even mentioned the fab art galleries yet.... OMG yes there is a piece of art for every one here, originals, prints whatever you want......

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

there are ubers, taxis, rental cars, your own vehicle, buses

There is the city bus link which you can google for the timetable. I believe it always turns up & usually on time but I don't know how good a route it has or where it goes. Just get an uber! there is plenty of them here! Taxi's are too expensive. Rental car companies thru out the Mount, Tauranga & the airport.
