Stunning bluff hike. Views of the Olympics and Port Townsend to the West, and the Cascades and prairie land to the East. We like to park in the lot near the Sunnyside Cemetary, and take the trail that includes the Robert Y. Pratt Preserve, and Jacob Ebey's House, then to the Bluff Trail. You don't need a Discover Pass here, and I think it is a way more interesting walk than starting at the beach, where most people seem to park. Don't miss this, especially on a clear day, when the mountains are out.

This is our go-to hiking spot, because it is just down the road, and it contains several serene and lovely forest trails. A fun destination in the woods, for first-timers is the "The Erratic", a giant glacial boulder. "it is believed to be the second largest glacial erratic in Washington". I recommend downloading an app, such as All Trails to avoid getting lost. It happens!

Langley has the sunrise, but you should catch a sunset on the West at least once while you are here. This is a very small public beach with private homes on either side, but it is worth a visit to catch the sunset on the Olympics. We did that often when we first moved here. I like to grab a Whidbey Island popsicle from the Ace Hardware ice cream freezer, and eat it while watching the sunset at this beach.

This is another gorgeous state park on Whidbey Island. The Fort Ebey Loop hike is a favorite of ours, because of its diversity. You will encounter forest, beach, bluff trails, a lake, and old military bunkers. Lots of opportunities for picnics with water and Olympic Mt. views. The entire loop is about 7 miles, but you can modify your route to shorten it.

A picturesque farm with shops, an educational garden, and a beautiful pond. There is a giant off leash dog park, on the farm, but even if you don't have a dog, it is worth walking up the hill to take in the views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges.

Located in downtown Langley. You can take in the views from the benches at street level, or venture down closer to the water and have a picnic. There are tables available at the bottom of the stairs with views of the Saratoga Passage, Camano Island , and the Cascades. At lower tides you can walk on the beach past Langley Inn and beyond. This is a quiet beach with stunning views on clear days. One of the few public beaches where you can take a long walk on the sand.

Beautiful sandy beach. Great for a long beach walk, wading, or swimming. Although there are lots of cute dogs running around, it is so big that dogs are not the focus here. There are lots of interesting drift wood structures/shelters that people have constructed- fun for hanging out and watching the birds, and scenery.

Charming little cafe in the woods serving delicious sweet and savory treats, as well as fantastic coffees. You won't find a hardy breakfast here, more little Quiches, and such. I would recommend going for a sweet treat and a coffee, just to check out the venue. Warning: it is a very long bumpy road to get there, but I think that is part of the fun! Mukilteo coffee Roasters is in the same location, and they were the former owners when it was Cafe In The Woods.

Take the back roads

Sure, you can take the highway to get from point A to B, but taking the back roads offers some amazing scenery and local home based businesses that you would otherwise miss. I found this link for bike riders, but you can just as well drive this route, or a variation of it. Just copy and paste the link, scroll down on the left and view the "Full Cue Sheet" https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2267711
