My Favorite Neighborhood Restaurants
In 2020, during the Pandemic no less, chef Danny Elmaleh (who also owns Cleo) reopened the 60-year-old icon Johnny’s Pastrami, which had closed in 2015. There is still lots of greasy food so if you are more of a health nut, this is not your place. This is good for the rich meat sandwiches on Tartine bread (a super well known bread spot in LA). There is an adjacent bar + there is live music on Friday nights (although call first to see).

The first really hip lunch spot in the neighborhood, Highly Likely isn't just a great place to grab brunch or lunch. It is THE place to get a good feel for the cool interesting folks that live in the neighborhood.
Everyone is ultra stylish and not trying too hard which is really quintessential of the neighborhood.
If you love a good hamburger and fries, these guys make a mean burger but you might get food coma!

Probably the other most favorite place to grab good food in West Adams. Mizlala is Mediterranean food but literally the best hummus and chicken plate. There is enough to split the kebab plate between 2 people.
You can either order to take away or just stay and eat in their adorable garden. Definitely, a place to avoid during the rain as there is no indoor eating!

This is a great soul food restaurant. But can be sometimes dead or jammed so call before you head over to see how busy it gets.
Love the black eyed fritters and the chicken!
Next door they have a cute coffee shop for early am coffee and muffins.

Opened last year, in 2021, Terrell Tilford’s 4,800-square-foot art gallery. According to owner Tilford, quoted from Los Angeles Magazine: “It’s about the relationship,” says Tilford. “I want this neighborhood of predominantly Black and brown people to come in and see reflections of themselves.”

N'soto is the casual restarant started by Niki Nakayama and Carole Iida-Nakayama’s . They are the 2 owners of 2-Michelin-starred n/naka which is a secret amazing but pricy L.A.’s restaurant. N'soto is their latest cool new venture.

This is the super coveted pizza shop that actually got started in Brooklyn New york. This is their LA outpost. The pizza is amazing. But its a real restaurant and the tables are hard to come by so make a reservation!

This is another great restaurants in the same area called The Platform. It has an incredible view and is one of the cutest places to watch the sunset only 7 minutes from the house via metro [2 -3 stops via metro].

Sightseeing
Santa Monica pier is about 20-30 minutes via Metro. The pier is where Paris Hilton famously threw one part of her wedding party.
But, it is a quintessential place to go in Los Angeles for just innocent fun.
