Hiking

A top very near the city center of Bergen. 2 hours t/r From the top you have an incredible views of the city surrounded by mountains, fjords, lakes and coastal landscapes. At the top you can enjoy great quality dining at Skyskraperen, one of the most renowned quality restaurants in Bergen, and have a relaxing experience, enjoy more adventures activities and hikes, or just enjoy the views and mountains with some refreshments and light dining. We have a beautiful hiking area for short and long walks, including the sherpa stairs to the top finished in 2019. One of the most popular hikes in Norway, Vidden, starts at Mount Ulriken and will lead you over to Mount Fløyen in 4-5 hours. You can also hike up to the top of Ulriken in the terrain, or follow all the stairs. The hile takes about 1 hour up and another 1 hour down. If you prefer you can also take the cable car up, but that is quite expensive. You are warned!

A great local top with great view. 2 hour t/r Hike to Holsenøy's 3rd highest mountain, 317 meters. Steep at the start and one piece at the end. Otherwise, steady rise over mountains and marshes. Waterproof shoes are recommended in humid weather. Great views in all directions from the top.

Museums

Main exhibition: Under Ground Bryggens Museum’s main exhibit uses thousands of artifacts and modern historical and archaeological research to let you come closer to the everyday lives of the medieval people of Bergen and Western Norway. Runic inscriptions with gossip, poems and spells tells us about faith and love, while ceramics from Europe and the Middle-East shows an extensive and international trade network. The new exhibit also displays the unique Guddal-garment – a nearly thousand year old find, which is one of extremely few relatively intact pieces of Norwegian medieval clothing. Very worth a visit, and the entrance fee is ok.

Relaxing

Sandviken Sjøbad is located at Elsesro. To get there from the bus stop at Sandviken Hospital, walk through Old Bergen. The bathing area has, among other things, a barbecue grill and a better deck. The sea bath is open all summer, unmanned.

This is almost a must have been place! Highly recommended. Nordnes Sjøbad is located in Nordnesparken not far from the Aquarium and within walking distance of the city. There is also an outdoor heated 25-meter saltwater pool that usually holds 30 degrees. Its a nice place to be even when it rains. There is also two saunas, and you can swim in the sea as well. The sea temperatur is usally between 14-18 degrees.
