Ideal if you have something to celebrate : Opened late last fall, Blue Valentine is a a pretty buzzing hipster spot near Oberkampf. Menu items change and the focus is seasonal, but you’ll get things like roasted pigeon and salads covered in wild flowers. Try the Cocktails. https://www.alexanderlobrano.com/restaurant-reviews/blue-valentine-a-love-letter-of-a-bistro-in-the-11th-arrondissement-b/

For Lunch : Tannat is definitely chic but also surprisingly laidback, with about fifteen tables arranged around an oval counter (where you can also be seated for dinner). The menu is slim, but well rounded, offering four appetisers (€5-€8), four starters (€8- €10), three mains (€19-€21), and three desserts (€8-€9).

You can' leave PARIS without tasting "LA MERVEILLE" from there ! A neighbourhood pâtisserie serving cakes worthy of royalty. After months of churning rumours, the rising star of pâtisserie, Yann Couvreur, opened his very own pâtisserie. Having previously worked at luxury hotels le Burgundy, le Prince de Galles and Eden Rock Saint-Barthélémy, the 32-year-old pastry chef has come back down to earth and chosen his first address in Goncourt in the 10th. https://www.timeout.com/paris/en/shopping/patisserie-yann-couvreur

Drinks & Nightlife

A run-down, rustic aesthetic rules in this canal-side café-bar. Simple wooden tables sit alongside dilapidated sofas, on which a cool crowd sit tapping away on their MacBooks in the day and sipping cocktails in the evening. The relaxed vibe, carried by smooth jazz on the stereo – and sometimes live jazz in the evenings – all stays on the right side of insufferably hipster, preserving much of the character of a charming old watering hole. Note: it can get a bit rammed during the 6-8pm happy hour, when the local restaurant-going clientele stop by for a quick aperitif. At €3 for a pint of Amstel or €4 for a mojito, you can see why. https://www.timeout.com/paris/en/bars-pubs/le-carillon

Where I drink my apéritif ;-) TimeoutThe 11th area is studded with the sort of bars that attract mobs of hipsters and repel everyone else; so it's refreshing to find, nestled among them, a snug little joint that has no pretensions to high fashion. If you find that your own reflection makes for a disconcerting drinking buddy, you can repair to a 12-seat outdoor terrace (heated in winter). Fine wines and gourmet sandwiches are the order of the day, though it's worth shelling out for one of the divine cheese and meat platters. But what elevates Le Troquet above its neighbours is Yassin, the impossibly charming owner, who's treated us like long-standing regulars since our first visit.
