Food Scene
One of our favourite restaurants in Basel – not only because it is literally across the street. Perfect for a nice dinner somewhere between comfort food and fine dining. Reservations are recommended, but not always necessary. And sometimes there are two seats left at the bar. If you feel adventurous try the «Menu Surprise» with 3 - 5 courses which is always really nice (Unfortunately you can only order it for 2 persons or more, without any special dietary needs or wishes, vegetarian included. But the menu is diverse enough to suit these needs too.)

The best croissants in town, amongst other great bread and pastries. Only two small tables to sit inside (more or less in front of the counter) and a couple more outside.

Very cool location. Tiny place and not very accessible, so try to book a table a couple of days ahead. Especially cool in summer when you can sit at the waterfront in the harbour of the Rhine. Good brunches on Sundays.
In summer the absolute best way is to take the Rhytaxi (check the sightseeing section).

The best Gelateria in Basel. Even with vegan options. Constantly changing flavours. If they have it on the menu, try the chocolate sorbet! Sit in the secluded backyard in summer.
