This is where the Civil War ended. General Lee surrendered to General Grant. The McLean House is a beautiful place to see as well as the grounds, just excellent! Enjoy the hiking/walking trails. You can rent canoes and kayaks. There are some neat rapids on the James River. The James river is famous and was the way to get to Richmond back in the day. There is a Batteaux Festival is in June. The batteaux boats were used to transport tobacco to Richmond.
