Close to the Jungle Flat, Tommy Thompson Park is a bird sanctuary with over 300 species including many migratory birds. There is no dogs allowed because of this. It is walkable/runable from the flat, even better on a bike (city bikes available 1 block over from the flat) and there is car parking as well. It is quite a hike to get all the way to the lighthouse. There are some secret beaches on the north side of the park with views of the city.

Massive park built along the water. Not landscaped, very natural. Good for a bike ride

A rare nature gem in the heart of a metropolitan city, Tommy Thompson park is car free sanctuary which juts out into Lake Ontario and offers a 7 km loop to bikers and hikers, brimming with birds and animals and unique views of the city.

Take that Bike Share bike you rented for a ride out the Leslie Street Spit, and experience Tommy Thompson Park for a tranquil getaway from the city. Lots of birdwatching. Great views of the downtown Toronto skyline.
