About an hour’s drive north of Sydney, in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, this lookout is part of a 4.4-km loop walk where you can spot goannas, wallabies, kookaburras, and white-bellied sea eagles. Plus, you get great views over Broken Bay and Barrenjoey Headland, and you can also see across the Hawkesbury River to the beaches of the Central Coast. Try to do this walk and visit the lookout during the week, as it can get very crowded on weekends. Ku-ring-gai Chase gates are open from sunrise to sunset, but times vary depending on the season. Check the National Parks NSW website for exact details.
