Stepped tanks here are considered to be sacred tanks for a holy bath before visiting any religious place of importance. Once a while, they were centers for festival celebrations. There are steps on all four interior sides of such tanks so that you can step down to get in and out of the water. The stepped tank at the Royal center is geometrically larger in its dimensions and is carved out from a green diorite with a complete absence of drainage system.
